Typical signs of condensation

As the weather cools down, condensation becomes one of the biggest issues in properties particularly those situated on the coast and if left untreated, it can quickly lead to damp and mould.

🔍 What causes it?

Condensation happens when warm, moist air hits cold surfaces like windows and walls. Everyday activities such as cooking, showering, and even drying clothes indoors all add to the problem.

Tips for tenants:

  • Keep windows slightly open and use extractor fans when cooking or bathing

  • Wipe down condensation from windows and sills daily

  • Avoid drying clothes on radiators if possible

  • Keep a steady, low level of heating during colder months

🏡 For landlords:

Regular property inspections and good ventilation systems (like trickle vents or extractor fans) can make a huge difference in preventing long-term damage, as well as educating your Tenants about managing condensation in their homes.

At Heyworth Property Management, we help both Landlords and Tenants tackle condensation before it becomes a costly repair - protecting homes and keeping everyone comfortable.
